Homer is getting two new banks, Citizens Bank and Gibsland Bank. That will make five banks for that small town. Can anybody tell me why they think there is enough business for all five in this area?

In my estimation there is not enought business for 5 banks in Homer. It just does not make sense.
Because the people of Claiborne Parish are so wealthy.lol
Liz, That is interesting. And I have no idea why they would need 5 banks...but I think having that many options to choose from is a good thing. Maybe someone knows that alot of money is coming to Claiborne....:o) Fingers crossed. LOL

Jaybird, that was my thought. Wishful thinking at best. But banks don't make those decisions without some knowledge of whether or not it would be a successful venture. Gibsland Bank is building from ground up so they're willing to invest in the local economy which is great. Only time will tell.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
