Is there any way to find out how much of a section has been leased? If so to what company.

Cheapest way
You can get a tax assessor listing for the STR you are interested in then run the landowners direct or as grantor at the parish clerk of court. I would suggest a run of 5 years. Barring complicated mineral leasehold title or production units this will work for you.

Cheap or expensive way
Pay a Landman or abstractor to prepare a lease take off report for you. He/she will do the above work for you. This may be cheap or could get expensive. As some landmen are out of work there is a possibility to get the job done fairly inexpensive. However day rates can range from 100 to 500 a day plus expenses. Also realize that complicated leasehold title may be involved so this may take more time to determine.

Easiest way
there are websites that provide production as well as lease information. The sites cost around 300 a month. If you hire an abstractor or Landman they may have this access.

Personally if you want it done right I would do option number two.
