- The Blackstone Well No. 1 is located three miles north from Karnack in the Carthage, North Field. Forest Oil Corp. has completed this well to a depth of 11,020-feet. When gauged on a 18/64-inch choke, the well showed a potential of 102,000 cubic feet of gas. Production is in the Bossier Shale formation.

Please note that this is a vertical, not a horizontal, completion.

Hi Skip, Mills & I have a little slice of Marion County. Do you think it will ever be really developed? Our lease over there is for about another year and four months. We only own 15 acres, but the unit is about 660 acres. Should we have any hope for the future? Frances & Mills McCawley

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
