Chesapeake Permits 2nd Haynesville Shale Well in Ashland Field (7/1/10)

Chesapeake continues its efforts to evaluate the eastern limits of the Haynesville Shale play with a second well permit the Ashland Field and T13N-R7W. The well has a permitted true vertical depth (TVD) of 15300 ft which is one of the deepest to date. The defined Cotton Valley unit for this section includes the Haynesville and Bossier Shale.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
