ENCANA HAS BEEN DRILLING THIS WELL FOR OVER A MONTH I TALKED WITH A STATE CONSERVATION WORKER WHO HAD VISITED THE WELL THIS WEEK HE SAID THE WELL WAS GOING TO BE PLUGGED. A LARGE LAND OWNER IN THE SECTION CONFIRMED THIS. THEY DID NOT HIT THE HAYNESVILLE AND HAD DRILLED TO THE SALT DOME. HAS ANYONE ELSE HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THIS? ENCANA IS DRILLING ANOTHER WELL NEARBY I GUESS WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS AREA. MAYBE THE SEISMIC WORK WILL HELP CLARIFY ALL THE HOT SPOTS.

Jr, that is some interesting news considering the proximity of this well to the Messenger well (Section 8) and the Section 6 well that is waiting on completion. I will be interested to see at what depth EnCana encountered salt and if that was in the vertical or horizontal portion of the well.
My sources don't believe they hit salt or a salt formation. I don't have a clue, but it is possible the drilling company lost a tool in the well or some other drilling issue that is unresolvable. Time will tell as Les B commented, as the Section 6 well is not fraced yet. The Messenger well flowed 5.2 million verticle and that is a great well for verticle.
