Heard EnCana is moving out since the nat gas prices are so low. They said they will come back once the prices have gone back up. I was just wondering if any one else had heard this and knows anything else to add.

Smoke, EnCana recently stated they plan to spend $6 billion in capital in 2009 with a lot of that directed at East Texas and North Louisiana. Specific to the Haynesville Shale they plan to drill 52 wells in 2009 which likely equates to 9-10 drilling rigs. Because EnCana has hedged a lot of their gas production I believe they can handle the low prices in 2009. Finally, lease expirations almost force them to continue drilling at their current pace.
Smoke,
Encana is very active in RRP. They have many, many acres leased in RRP on which the leases will expire in June 2010. Many of these were originally 3 year leases (with options for years 4 & 5) that they got in June 2005 for amounts that varied from about $100-$250 per acre. Renewals were as little as $37.50 per acre in some cases. They've already exercised their 4th and 5th year renewal options in many of these situations, so it will be very interesting to see what happens when it comes time for the leases to expire next year. I'm sure Encana would like to drill as many wells as fast as they can since they got such a bargain when they leased the land in 2005. Of course, when we leased back then, we were thrilled. It was a good deal at the time.
They seem pretty busy in RRP and most, if not all, of the wells they are drilling are horizontal.
The word is Encana is bringing in approximately 10 - 15 more rigs. One of which will be doing a "spyder" technique which will allow three to four horizontals to be drilled from one location.
They are negotiating for a 12 acre pad in 14/11. Wonder if that's what they have in mind for it.
well this is not concerning encana but trying to find out what kind of leasing activity is going on in rrp, got call from petrohawk today interested in some there , in township 12
north. also wasnt there a petrohawk well completed maybe north of there a while back that was very large, appreciate any info on this
HS, are you referring to the following well that was tested at 28,200 Mcfd:

Petrohawk, Sample 9 #1 Well, Serial #238116, S9-T14N-R11W, Thorn Lake Field, Red River Parish
les b appreciate the feed back , i guess this is the petro well , can you tell me in miles how far from t-12. range 10, sect 6, 7, 8, or 18 .also if anyone knows any lease money that is being paid in that area if any and who, thanks
HS, the Sample 9#1 would be about 12 miles north-northwest of your acreage. The following well is 6 miles northwest of your acreage and tested at 17.5 MMcfd.

Petrohawk, Matthews 16 #1 Well, Serial #238373, S16-T13N-R11W

By the way, the website would not let me respond directly to your post.
Our lease has been assigned by EnCana to Petrohawk as of April 28, 2009. What does this mean and what is the significance of this action?
CM, that means your lease contract is now with Petrohawk. Petrohawk may have already been in control of most of the acreage in your section and operator of any unit. If you are willing to provide your section-township-range information I can check for the unit.
Thanks, Les. Our Red River Parish Property is in Township 12, Range 11 West and in Sections 2, 3,10,11,13,14,15, and 24. We were part of a multi-thousand acre deal with EnCana so I do not know if Petrohawk did in fact have most of the acerage in that section. How much is a section? Isn't it 640 acres? I wonder if there is any substantial difference between EnCana and Petrohawk at least in the way they treat owners?
