EnCana Spuds 1st Haynesville Shale Well in Liberty Field & T12N-R8W (4/8/10)

On March 17th EnCana spudded the first Haynesville Shale well in T12-R8W.  This well is also the first Haynesville Shale well to be drilled in the Liberty Field.  It will be interesting to see if EnCana completes this well in the Haynesville Shale or Mid-Bossier Shale formation.

Robert, the report from RedRiverGal is the drilling rig was still on location last weekend.

Hi Les,
Thanks. I had heard from Dallas (a neighbor in the section) that they were pulling pipe and stacking it around the time of the July 4th weekend. I presume this would likely be the drill drive pipe, and part of getting ready to pull the rig off, preparatory to frac'ing? Sorry for my ignorance - never been around an active rig. I am sure I would find it fascinating though.

Bob, there are various reasons for pulling the drill pipe (tripping out of the hole) such as changing drill bits or mud motors. So it doesn't necessarily indicate drilling is finished.

Scheduling the frac job can take some time after the well is drilled dependent on the availability of the pumping units required for the frac job. EnCana has been frac'ing some wells in the area recently so maybe it will not take too long. I will let you know if I see any information.

Does anyone have latest status on this well (S7-T12N-R8W)? I ask because I just saw a report (on GHS) of completion of the S5-T12N-R8W well (240963) about a mile away, which in sonris on 8/11 was listed as just a bit further along in the process of completion. Thanks much! - Bob Duke

Robert, as you said Sonris showed the Section 7 well about a week behind the Section 5 Well so it may be on production now. You may want to drop Highwayman a line as he always has the best information in that area.

I would be interested in knowing if this well is in production, too. I keep looking at SONRIS for test information, maybe not in the right spot, tho? Does anyone know how often is that info is updated?

Joey, with all the current activity it can be weeks between updates on Sonris. Initial well test information can take 1-3 months before being available on Sonris.

As of today it looks like a coiled tubing crew is onsite at this well.

Highwayman, thanks for the scoop. They must be drilling plugs and would be starting flowback (production) soon.
