It seems like wells are being drilled all around our property in Sec 29/T14N/R10W. We have leased with Petrohawk, but we have not been contacted. The wells seem to be within our 640 acre unit. Are leasors informed before drilling begins or after drilling is completed? Thank you for your help.

Glenda, Shell has permitted the following Haynesville Shale well in your section but the well has not yet been drilled.

Shell, Mclelland Tr 29 #H1 Well, Serial #241700, S29-T14N-R10W

An earlier Haynesville Shale well was drilled and completed by Petrohawk that had a surface location in Section 29 but the horizontal lateral is located in Section 32 and produces only from that section (unit)

Petrohawk, Mclelland Tr 32 #H1 Well, Serial #240474, S29(32)-T14N-R10W, Red River Parish, 7673 Mcfd, 14/64" Choke, 9000 psi Flowing Pressure

EnCana is your unit operator but EnCana & Shell are in a 50/50 partnership.

Les, Thank you very much for the information.
Petrohawk, nor any other operator, has an obligation to contact you regarding the permitting of a well on any of the lands in which your lease is pooled. The Office of Conservation requires that the operator send you a notice letter for their application for a drilling & production unit and for their application for one or more alternate unit wells. Neither of these are actually well permits though they are related. When an operator applies for and when they receive a well permit from the state, there is no requirement for that operator to send you a notice. Yes, I know it can be confusing. And many mineral owners think that because they have received letters for units and/or alternate unit wells, they will also receive one for an actual well permit. If you wish to know when a permit is issued or a rig actually begins drilling, you have to seek that information yourself.
Skip, Thank you very much for the information.
