I am new to this subject so any help would be appreciated. What are the laws pertaining to untizing a section according to the State of Louisiana? I guess in easy form can my property be unitized in a section using a well that is not a Haynesville well? My understanding was a section could not be untized unless a Haynesville well was drilled? Could someone please shed some light on this subject for me.

HSO, a Haynesville unit can be formed either before or after a well is drilled in the section. Numerous Haynesville units have been formed throughout Red River Parish in some areas where there are no producing wells. Typically an O&G company prefers to form a unit before the well is drilled so operatorship & percentage ownerships can be established first. The unit application will include a well in the general to reference in defining the interval (zone, formation or sand) to be unitized.
