Can someone tell me where this well is and anything about it? It appears to be, from what I know, in the central to southern part of the parish. It was just permitted this month. But, at 10000', is it in the Haynesville Shale?

It's flaring gas now?
That explains why I did not see anything when I went to the trash dump. Do you have to go down the Kites Landing Road to see the activity?
Directions: go west on Lakeside Loop from 191, left at stop sign onto Elm Church Rd (if you go right at stop sign you'd still be on Lakeside Loop) then its about 200 yards on left.
OH..That is further North than the site I have been referring to. I thought the conversation was about the test site near Kites Landing right down from the Dump site. Thanks for straightening me out.
Are you refering to the dump site on HWY 191 at the south end of Sabine Parish? If so, this well may be the well you are reffering to. Lakeside Loop is just south of the dump (about 3 miles north of the road to Hornbeck).
I know where Lakeside Loop is and it runs into Kites Landing. It sounds as if you are talking about near Little Flock. This test site was almost next to Kites landing road but right on HWY 191 in an open field. It was closer to Curtis Grocery Store. That is where the other person was referring to the low flying aircraft signs and copters sitting at the site. It has been shut down and testing is finished. I thought you mean't that was the spot that was re-opened. I am familar with the other one as it near my friends house.
Now I wonder what is the name of the Lakeside Loop well and what is the name of the Kites landing well. I didn't know there were two in our area. All my comments in this discussion have been referring to the well about 200 yards south of the Lakeside Loop / Elm Church Road T intersection. Any help?
The Donner well IS the one you are referring to. As I told you, it was my mistake. The other site was a TEST site that has been closed as was originally stated by myself and others. From your post I was under the impression they had reopened the TEST site. I think a couple of other people thought the same thing since that test site was in open view of HWY 191 with many signs posted on the road.
Update on the Donner Well, I am new to this site and came on to see why they are not leasing any land yet, any information on this would be helpful.
Now let me give you some information on what I know about the Donner Well, It is located off Kites landing RD. Take left off Hwy 191 on Kites landing road go about 1 quarter of mile until it T'S into Kites landing Loop, take left at T and the well is 300 yards on the left.
They set 4 different packers after they perferated the well on this directional hole. They displaced the mud, with fresh water they got from pipe they ran from the rig to Yokam Creek.
They then went in and Frakced the well between all four packers, which to you Oil Field Hands, is the 4 target Zones that they Perferated before they set their packers.
They brought in a seperator and tested the first Zone, they flared it for about a week, this was around 12-10-08, they are now Testing the 2nd Target Zone between the 2 packer and 3rd Packer, it is flaring now 12-26-08. We have some land on Quite Cove RD. and from our camp you can hear the pressure from the flow of this well, It's about 1/2 mile west from this well to our camp. I don't know what the (TVD<-True Vertical Depth) of this well is or what mud weight they were drilling with, while they were drilling this well.
A little history, about this well, they drilled this well about 6 to 10 years ago, and capped it, and left it, they came back on it in September 2008 and went into the same hole, and kicked off and directional drilled it this time, from what little information I can get, it is a heck of a well. They started bringing in all the drawworkes and derrick to drill it in september of this year 2008. They were also siamagrafting on a mile by mile west of Nelson Road,on the west side of 191, about the same time they started drilling this well. I have heard only hear say, like I said it is hush hush, it is hard to find out any information about any wells being drilled in Sabine Parish, but I did hear talk about a pipeline coming down, their is also a good well at the corner of 191 and 392 about 1/2 mile North of Toledo Bend Dam, this well was drilled in the late 1990's about 1998 or 99. I don't thank it is Haynesville Shale, I believe it is Austin Chalk. I hope this information was helpful to all of you.
If anyone hears of any leasing in the Kites Landing Rd. Area your input would be appreciated, Thanks.
Thanks everyone for posting about this. Toledobend, please keep posting anything you see and if you don't understand about it, I bet someone can help explain it. That is what is so great about this site;everyone is willing to help others. You are our eyes "across the pond" and we appreciate any information we can get. The more people checking things out the better it is.

lanny8, when was the test sight drilled and that activity going on?

Muddobber, welcome. this information is very interesting and informative to us and please keep posting what you find out.
Sandstone,
The best I remember the test was sometime near the end of summer at Kites and 191.

Muddobber,
It is correct that it is the Austin Chalk Zone Reservoir C, North Burr Ferry Field, Sabine and Vernon Parishes, which is including the two wells currently operating. I have an old lease in my hand that was received by my husband and I in May of 1997 with Sonat Exploration Company out of Tyler Texas. It was for $100 for 3 years with a One Dollar Royalty. (As Santa would say HO HO HO) There was conference held on Friday May 9, 1997 and I have a list of persons that attended. In attendance were representatives of the Timber Industry and many homeowners. It's purpose was to force pool and integrate all separately owned tracts. Two dry holes had already been drilled at that time. I also have a copy of the Plat which appears to run almost to Newton Texas. The proposed sections were T 3N-R12W and T2N-R12W.

To my knowledge the pipeline story is correct and it is planned for the Texas side of Toledo Bend.
Muddobber, you might check out the East Texas and Sabine County sites. There is a lot of information about the O & G companies and leasing activity in the areas and it covers west of Toledo Bend, under Toledo Bend and east of Toledo Bend at different times, so maybe if anything interesting is going on it will be posted.
