Back in 1980 a well was drilled on J L Davis land on Hwy 1216. They were drilling for oil and went to 14000+. They P&Aed it. Does anyone have any info on that well, besides all the rumors? Did they hit anything...did they go to or thru the Haynesville?

The well was #163493 S30 T8N R11W.

The well was spudded by Chevron in July 1979, finished drilling in April 1980 and were trying to target oil. The scout report doesn't provide much detail. They did have to side-track due to a stuck tool. The final depth was 14518. They perf'd the well at around 13000 feet, then at about 11250 feet, and spent several months trying to fracture the well. They'd get slight amounts of gas to the flare, but no oil and then plugged it. There is a line in the scout ticket that says "14489-14518 rec 29'sh, blk" Could mean recorded 29 feet of shale, black. Perhaps they hit the top of the Haynesville, but no way to be sure.
Thanks so much. Just what I wanted to know. We lived near that spot.
