Les - this is encouraging - would you know about where this would be -(HWY or road) - my interest is in T7N - R11W - What is your take on the depth - is there a need for this that they already know about - or are they just covering their bases - is it a good thing or a bad thing?

Shaleeee, attached is a map that shows the rough location of the well close to the western edge of Section 10. The proposed surface location is 330' from the south section line. Hopefully the road names will help you identify the location of the well.

I believe EnCana has enough information to know the well depth is probably required in this area. Although it may take a little longer to drill, the depth is generally a good thing since the higher pressure gives more gas in place and gas reserves per section.

Thanks Les, for the map and the depth info - I thought that high pressure was a big negative - but if it gives more gas it is not all bad. You are a true educator in a subject that it is so new - thanks again.

shaleee, i also am interested in 7n 11w as i have 30 acres unleased. if you have land here are you leased yet? thanks mc

Not yet - not in any hurry - I feel that the operators are learning more & more about this shale drilling which will equate into better production for a longer period of time. Also most forward looking news releases lean toward increases in the price of ng in the next couple of years. Just hope the leasing bonus goes up a little too

Les B, there will actually be 2 wells in the works for this area. #241095 has been permitted. The second well will be on the old Billy Maxey place, which is bounded on the east by La. Hwy. 175, on the south by Eaves Lane, and on the west by Branson Lane (the lanes are parish roads). A review of the section map will reveal this places the well more or less in the northeast corner of Section 8, T8N, R11W. The landowner has been notified, as has the man who leased the land for cattle grazing.

Question....why is this referred to as the "Zwolle Field," when wells north and west, just a mile or so, are placed in the "Bayou San Miguel Field?" What is the dividing line?

Finally, a significant portion of Section 5-8-11 was never leased for deep rights. Would it be safe to assume, if these wells come in strong, especially the Maxey well, these unleased acres will go for a premium?

BB, field boundaries are somewhat arbitrary but it appears the Bayou San Miguel Field includes the westernmost 1-2 sections of T8N-R11W with the remaining sections in the Zwolle Field.

Positive well results should increase the value of the deep rights in Section 5 but how much is hard to say.

what happened with the plans for a well on Billy Maxey's old place ? I haven't seen any signs of one being drilled there. We also own land in 8-8-11, with no lease offers.

And we were told that there were too many people in 5-8-11 that would not lease their property, so they wouldn't make us an offer on that either.

Lisa, there have been three wells drilled in T8N-R11W but no test results posted.

Lisa P:  I also have land in 5-8-11 and, along with several of my neighbors, have been soliciting lease offers for almost 3 years, without any interest being shown.  We collectively hold around 300 acres in the section.  One landowner went so far as to retain a lease agent, but received no offer.  Several months ago a Texas abstract company called several of us to check on the status of our properties, and indicated a lease offering would be forthcoming.  We heard nothing more.  There have been several rumors circulated about why no offers were received, but nothing of any substance.  Sooner or later a company will pick up these tracts, but it may be some time coming.  Let's just hope it won't be too long into the future.  Maybe 2011 will be our years.....Good luck.....

thanks for the update,  good luck to you, also. We haven't had any calls on the 5-8-11 land, but if we get any , I'll be sure and post it here
