EnCana has just permitted a Haynesville Shale horizontal well in the Grogan Field. This is in addition to their earlier permit of a Haynesville Shale well in the Pleasant Hill Field. These two well permits confirm previous information that EnCana would become more active in Sabine Parish.

Les. There is also talk of numerous newly staked locations in Sabine. About a half dozen in the last week. There may be a few more ENC well permits in the works.
A new well was permitted today also.

Thank goodness someone is coming in to save Sabine Parish! And thank goodness Encana is doing it on someone else's land, rather than my own. After all the problems, I'm happy to wait a good while until someone learns how to successfully drill down here.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
