I see where a new well is being permitted 5 miles southwest of San Augustine by Cabot. The well is on only 40 acres, is 16,500 ft deep, and is vertical. Any idea if Cabot is going after deep oil? All recent permits have been horizontal.

Now that I look closer, they also show a completion depth of 7,018 ft., but 16,500 for total depth. I guess they may not go as deep as they indicated (only into the James Lime).
Steve, I guess they want to see how the James behaves in that area. That 40 acres is in the Walters Gas Unit.
