Have land in the A Spear survey, a 43  approx 12 miles sw of San Augustine in or near Goodwin and approx 5 miles north of Broaddus.  I really don't know what to look for, but have been reading alot here.  Learning alot for sure. :-)   The land was leased approx 1.5 years ago but only recvd an intial upfront lease $$$.  have not heard anything else about if there are any wells there or near there.  If there are then typically how long does it take before you start getting monthly royalties.. If that even ever happens. If any of you could help me out or send some links etc.. would greatly appreciate it!  thanks  have a great day!

Hey Chloe,

Our property is in A Spear survey A-43 w/ Spears Creek running through it, also. We're leased w/ Encana through Oct. 2011. You must be directly across the road from us as we're the road frontage on west side of FM1277. All wells drilled in our survey have had very few private mineral owners included in the units. Most all have been Blackstone minerals. I guess they'll get to us one day as we're surrounded by good wells. XTO is 1.6 miles north drilling wells & there's alot of activity (4 wells) just across the Attoyac River in Walker survey, Nacogdoches County. Encana is being very aggresive in our area but only drilling Natl Forest. It's just a matter of time for us, the gas is there.

Hey Thanks Farmbrad!

Since I hear that the wells are horizontal in extracting gas.  Noob question but how close does a well need to be to your land for you to be included.  I read some speak of oil, is there oil in that area as well?

haha..    I guess I need to drive up there one of these days and look around.  To bad google maps hasnt map the street views yet!   ;-)

ps  If you have any maps with that I can look at please send links.. or anything else if you dont mind.  I enjoy learning about it non the less.  thanks again !

Chloe,

Some of the horizontals are reaching 5000ft or more now. That's nearly a mile. There's been no oil to date that I know of. The well maps on RRC site in conjunction w/ google earth can give you a pretty good idea of where the wells near us are at. Many have not reported production numbers yet. All of this is fascinating to me. My advise is to take it all in & learn as much as you can. Don't get in a rush with decisions. Life is very good these days!

Farmbrad,

thanks for the info, so busy with life as usual dont have hours to study this like I would like... but i agree with your advice 100%!         :-)

again thanks to all of you that have "PIPED IN" on my noob questions.

They are very much appreciated..   will be around watching, reading, researching etc...

No pom, poms for me yet!!!!!    LOL   peace out
