I'm not understanding the new format of the east texas drilling report. I searched Lobos DU 1H in GHS & found info on an 11.1 IP for the well yet this week's newly formatted ETDR shows 33528 Mcf. How does that convert to 11.1 Mcf? The depth doesn't match up either. Is this a mistake or am I missing something?
Old format of ETDR:
The Lobos DU Well No. 1H is six miles northwest of San Augustine in the Carthage Field. XTO Energy completed this well to 19,208 feet. On a 14/64-inch choke the well potentialed 11.176 million cubic feet of gas. Production is in the Haynesville Shale.
New format of ETDR states:
San Augustine .... XTO Energy...................................... Lobos DU – 1H ............ Carthage (Haynesville Shale) .......... 12898 .......... 2.5 .............. 33528 Mcf .............. 6 Miles NW Augustine

FB, they reported the total flow for the entire test period (72 hours) so divide by three to get MMcfd.
Lobos 1H was re-reported to amend the completion report. It was completed in January @ 11.176 MMcfd, 14/64 choke, 6300# FCP.
The old Drilling Report format was always to report the 24 hour flow rate. My guess is that reporting the 72 hour flow rate was a mistake since it was confusing, especially if the report did not explain that it was a 72 hour rate. The new Drilling Report will likely iron out these types of kinks in the near future. It would be a shame if the San Augustine and Nacogdoches reports used a different format from the other counties--ie, reporting cumulative figures rather than the average daily figures. That would seem to be a step backward from easy to read standards.
where are you even finding the new report format?
Doob,
1. GOOGLE "East Texas Drilling Report"
2. Select "Tyler News Business" or something similiar
3. When it opens, the Top Story is generally the ETDR
4. Click on "Full Story" & check date when it opens (sometimes you'll get an earlier version)
I always check it Sunday mornings when it's released for the week.

Sorry to switch counties, but I thought it made sense to ask in the San Augustine forum in light of this discussion. I am interested in the following well information from the same report. The well is located in far southern Panola county.
Panola ................ Indigo Minerals LLC ......................... Lazarine GU2–1h .... Carthage (Cotton Valley).................. 9455............ 2.750 .......... 13290 Mcf .......... 11.7 Miles SW Carthage.
Does anyone know if the reference to "13290 Mcf" indicates flow rate for the entire test period also (4.43 Mcf per day)?
Produced liquids (gas well) would be on a G-5 report, shelbyco. That report is turned in with the G-1 IP report and would be a part of the completion packet.

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
