You won't be finding permits anywhere, they are not public record. Meaning they are not filed anywhere to my knowledge.

Thanks ogmladvisor,
It would appear that a seismic company would not just appear in an area without an OG requesting the testing?
Where do we find the authorized permits? Where are they filed and who administers the permits? Thanks!!

I would assume it varies from company to company on whether or not everyone gets notice...not sure there is any kind of law if that is what you getting at.

The information prepared by the seismic company is for sale to buyers...meaning they go do the shoot, and then turn around and sell data to interested parties, presumably the companies with acreage positions in the area. So know, the parties of interest do not have rights to receive information from the test...unless of course you want to pay for those rights.

Thanks ogmladvisor,
Does everyone usually receive letters to alert the mineral rights and landowners of the intentions of the seismic companies? Do all of the parties of interest have rights to receive the information from the testing?

Seitel Data has been offering $15 an ac. for permission to do seismic testing in Shelby Co. I have heard of some people in other areas getting more after negotitaions; may have been a different company.

What is the name of the company doing the seismic work in San Augustine County now?

The answer to your question is no. In Texas, seismic testing can be done with any portion of the undivided mineral estate under seismic agreement...or any portion of the undivided mineral estate under an oil and gas lease with geophysical language. So in theory, you could have a tract where no one has signed O&G leases, and a 1% owner of the mineral estate has signed a permit...and the seismic company is good to go for the testing.

As for the money paid for permits...as far as I can remember, it's not even enough to justify having a discussion about. Probably anywhere from $10 to $50 per acre if I had to guess.

I have ask a similar question earlier on this site but I cannot find any answer. If the mineral rights are undivided and some of the MR owners have signed leases but not all....Must the seismic company obtain signatures from ALL mineral riights owners? Do all mineral rights owners regardless of leased or not leased have to give permission to the seismic company to perform testing? What is a reasonable price to charge per acre for your signature?
