Unit Petroleum has picked up 2 year extention options on most of their 3 year leases in J. White, J. Engish, McKey, CL Wharton,  Strickland , and other surveys in NE Shelby near Joaquin that did not have high cost extentions most in the $350 range bonus with  were due to expire in March. CHK on the other hand had a lot of $3000 +range bonus options that they simply let expire in March and I understand plan  same with option due for extention April thru Sept 2011.  The Bossier Shale is lead driver in this area now rather than the Haynesville shale based on the R Hays Dean well IP 8.7 mmcfd in the Bossier. Will be interest to see if any activity occur with the CHK leases that CHK let expire since CHK simple overextend their plate with more acreage than they can drill and has interest else where. If any one had leased with CHK in NE Shelby that expired please post any renewed interest that occurs with your minerals for release.

HaHa! As much as I would like for people to start frying these woodpeckers, I do not want them to stop eating chicken being that I own poultry farms.  If it got out that woodpeckers taste like chicken, it might hurt our business since the price of groceries is getting so ridiculous!  LOL  The eagles need to start eating the woodpeckers and keep their eyes off my poodle! We have 2 species of eagles in Huxley. They are spectacular birds but aggressive.

jffree1,

If you have not read my original post on page one, second from the bottom, I would appreciate your reading it and give any input you may have, your info and opinion are appreciated, and thanks in advance.

PB,  Classic is a late-comer to the Haynesville play in East Texas.  I suspect there is someone else behind them but I don't have any intel on that, at the moment.

I will see the permit(s) when filed and may have a comment at that time about their target.

I can only tell you that, if I had a chance at a "re-do" on my lease (rare), I would want to wait on well results.  What I would weigh, I think, is not should I lease to anyone making an offer because I might not get another one but, is this the company I want to entrust my minerals to... possibly far into the future?

Unit Petroleum would not fall into my Top 10 list of capable operators.

jffreel--- I agree 100% about Unit not in top 10 list for they have only drill some vertical wells that are only worth HBP the leases for themself and poor for mineral owners but hopefully they will sell their deep rights and leases to some one who will produce them like XOM/XTO. EOG. or GDP. My lease will expire on couple of weeks from a flipper :)---- but the area of undivided minerals in my tract and contiguous leases options have been extended by Unit for 2 years:( ----this may hurt my releasing in short term.

jffree1 and adubu,

Thanks for the input.  I feel the same way about Unit.  I have thought about trying to peddle this acreage to another operator but don't know where to start.  It may be best to wait and gamble on these new wells or at least wait until we know for sure what the target is.  Sure wish they would hurry up and file for permit.

Thanks again.

prudhoe bay, jfree1, and MARG---- the people I knew who was hire only one week ago was laid off this AM only after few days said the company decided to go in another direction. Why? They never knew from broker who  hired them-- what Company. They had started runing title on HBP tracts in the G.R. Rains A-597 Survey just North of Hwy 84 next to Panola County line. Just West of the Mays Wells with Rig on it permitted as H Cotton Valley maybe Shale well-- jfree1 do you know what this wells target is??? There are 2 Wells in Survey (GR Rains)drilled by KCS with now operator Classic. What this means?????????
adubu, I don't know any more than what you saw on the W-1.
Well, what I was talking about  was Woodies too.  Do not know what you mean.  Sorry about that.  I think it got in the wrong place.  I have been thinking about leaving in our trust a certain piece of property for a wildlife reserve.  My trustee mentions it at times; but I was thinking more on church activity places.  Orphan homes can harm school districts, rehab centers for people w/problems upset people, but the animal thing could serve a purpose and help game wardens.  Whatever!  So, if that clarifies anything.   Things like that help on the death tax if it comes back.   Promise:  I shall never use your name!!!! THX!!!

Marg, I certainly did not mean to offend you or anyone else with my request.  I just did not have anything to contribute to the "Middleton Survey" portion of the thread and did not want to get off into the weeds on historical wells which I know nothing about.  My apologies, if I hurt your feelings.

If you want to set aside a portion of your land for wildlife habitat (woodpeckers or any other species), I think that is commendable.  And, there are those tax considerations... as added incentive, so I say... go for it.

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
