Condon, what you received was a pre-conference notice letter from attorneys representing a company applying for a Drilling Unit Order. That notice letter went to an Interested Party List of mineral and surface owners of record within the boundary of the proposed units and those within 1000' adjacent. The letter offers a local hearing if any party on the list requests one. They usually do not and the application is then placed on the Commissioner's Hearing Schedule for a hearing date in Baton Rouge. The application you mention has not appeared on that schedule as yet. A Drilling Unit Order from the state is good indefinitely and does not include a requirement to drill wells within any given time period. The application does however indicate a company's interest to develop a given area for one or more formations covered in that application. Please post the name of the company making the application, the formations included in the application and the section or sections that the order will cover.
