First (?) Haynesville Shale Well Permit in Webster Parish (5/18/09)

BEUSA Energy has permitted the following well in Webster Parish which I believe may be the first Haynesville Shale test in the parish. Although identified as a wildcat the location is adjacent to the Elm Grove and Sligo Fields. I have attached the well permit for information.

BEUSA, Mongomery 18 #1 Well, Serial #239784, S18-T17N-R10W

Thanks Les. We're leased in T19N, R10W and R9W. Even though the latest well info is 2 townships south of us, it's always good to hear of any activity in Webster Parish.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
