Kathy, I know that this is not a great answer but you can contact the o/g companies and they will do a check for you to see if you own your mineral rights. If the answer is "yes" and you wish to lease, just make sure that you have a clause in your lease that you do not warranty your title. If you need one, let me know. If the landmen come back to you and say that you do not own your mineral rights, then it could be worth your money to hire an attorney. It can be very costly to have a mineral title opinion, I would go the free route and call several o/g companies and say that you want to lease your land and they will do the rest.
