I went to South Texas College of Law in Houston & SMU law school. I graduated from college in 1984 & promplty started law school in 1999. I needed 15 years to recover from college.

Hang in there with the landman job. It will come back. Law school is hard, expensive & no income while you are in school. E. TX has small firms that don't pay those big bucks you read about in the paper. It takes several years for a new E. TX attorney to make the kind of money that landmen are making quickly these days. Plus you would no longer have the laid back lifestyle a landman enjoys.
