It is in the TMS region and is an Oil play. If you dont know about the TMS, you can learn about it at www.tmslandowners.com.
Basically, it is a shale region in southern Mississippi along the border of Louisiana. Thus far all of the recent booms have been around gas, but oil plays may be in the near future. I own 89 acres of mineral rights in Amite County. Encore has been drilling several new wells in the area and we are hoping to have the kind of run the Barnett and Haynesville gas shale areas have had. Oil is high and we need more domestic reserves, but the technology to get to the oil is more complex than getting to natual gas. Time will tell.......

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
