No, I'm in Austin, Tx, but do want to hear what comes out of the Goldonna meeting as well as keeping up with everything else going on in Natchitoches and Winn Parishes. Beautiful country means beautiful leases, right? It's a Winn-Winn situation! :-)
Hi, Wjsonl, I own quite a bit of land all over Winn Parish but the area we leased was in the upper northwest corner close to Natchitoches Parish. We got $400 and 1/5 so that is low but better than $100. I think we have to hold out until they drill closer to us. I have been told that the results of the Messenger well in Natchitoches will have a big impact on us also. It appears to be a really good well. We have also signed with a company who is doing seismic studies in upper Winn and Natchitoches Parishes. These studies should be finished in a month or so but we will probably not be able to get any results. For now it is just a waiting game as they work their way over to us. I feel sure that the HS is in Winn and the latest reports list Winn as one of the HS parishes. They are also doing seismic work near Olla so that is east of us. Let me know if you find out anything. Things seem to be calm right now before another big leasing burst.
Hi Marley, where in Winn Parish is the land you leased last March, and how much per acre did they give you? We've received an offer from a landman representing DB Interests but it was such a low offer ($100) I guess he was just testing the water to see if we were desperate. Jack
Hi, I am in the same shape you are. I live in Florida and have quite a bit of land in Winn Parish so if you find out any info please let me know. There has been some leasing in north Winn and landmen are supposed to be there researching now so let's hope they start knocking on our door. I leased to Chesapeake last march but have not heard from anyone else.

As exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More
