FYI. Dion is the most knowledgeable landman that I know. He is a friend and sounds like an O&G attorney. BP keeps him busy so he doesn't get to post as much as I would like. I hold him in the highest regard.
Go to SONRIS Document Access, scroll down to 3rd from bottom, Well Permit To Drill, enter S/N 231161 and check the box for Get Associated Documents. Scroll down to 19, click Adobe icon. This a multi-page P&A report.
Good. Let me provide full disclosure. I assist mineral owners wherever I can in areas that I consider myself of adequate knowledge. I am not a member of NARO-LA owing to their formation by industry members in order to control or influence the discussions in the early years of the Haynesville Shale play. Over time I have advocated a more independent role with the willingness to oppose the industry on selected issues that have a harmful or potentially harmful impact on land/mineral owners. I have been a presenter and a panel member at numerous NARO-LA annual conventions but they have never quite made the decision to be fully independent from the industry. This has to do with a few long time board members who I have great respect for but they are lacking as advocates for private mineral owners.
I have been promoting a NARO-LA town hall for the central LA AC area but I am not sufficiently familiar with the area to answer geologically related questions or to give a general overview of what is happening and what may come next. My focus and paying jobs are Haynesville/Bossier shale related.
I can put you in touch with the main board members if you have an interest. If you would care to explore your participation further, let me know. I would certainly expect for all your travel and lodging expenses to be covered in addition to whatever you think your time and expertise may be worth in this matter.
RM, Are you independent or tied to a company? I ask because my friends on the board of NARO-LA are considering some town hall meetings in the central LA parishes with AC activity in an attempt to provide some clarity and educate mineral owners. There should be a petrophysical assessment and a geologist to answer technical questions included in that presentation. Is that something that you might have some interest in? Compensation is negotiable.
I'm looking to expand my list of clients. My focus for ten years has been the Haynesville/Bossier but that business takes a hit when natural gas prices go south. The current oversupply probably will persist for a couple of years. If you run across anyone looking for some research and analysis regarding the AC, I'd appreciate a referral.
I don't think so but look for yourself. Use the link below. Scroll to the search option third from the bottom, Permit ti Drill/Amend. Check the box to get all the docs and enter the well serial number, 181702.
RM, I'd like to try and find some additional data on the Rabalis #1 but can not pull up the well file and associated documents and reports with the API number. Can you provide me with the state serial number?
Just so you know, Jay is an experienced geologist with 35+ years of experience. He is a high level manager for a private E&P company in Houston. He has been a member of GHS since the earliest days and follows the Haynesville Shale, among other plays, because he owns a family farm with Haynesville production in a good rock portion of the play. I think his company has drilled or promoted prospects in both the AC and TMS over the last five or six years. So he has access to proprietary data.
Rock Man, I am within a mile or two north of where the leasing cut off for the current Austin Chalk play. (T2N, R1E,S2 Rapides Parish) Do you think that my area is too shallow?Deep? We have never really had any wells drilled near us and usually are only leased- never to be drilled. I don't think there has been much if any research done in our area. We are usually leased at this point. Do you think any more companies will join in the quest?

I don't use Drillinginfo as I can access the raw data from the state O&G databases that are my business focus.
There are 17 pages in the historic well file in addition to well log. If that is more than you can access with Drillinginfo, let me know.
