I heard the words "Shale Gas" come out of Obama's mouth on the radio today. I thought that was great until I Googled it:

Shale gas is part of US-China clean energy accord
It may have been toward the bottom of the list. But US President Barack H. Obama and Chinese President Hu Jintao did include a shale gas resource initiative in their Nov. 17 announcement of measures to strengthen clean energy cooperation between the two countries.

“Under the initiative, the US and China will use experience gained in the United States to assess China’s shale gas potential, promote environmentally-sustainable development of shale gas resources, conduct joint technical studies to accelerate development of shale gas resources in China, and promote shale gas investment in China through the US-China Oil and Gas Industry Forum, study tours, and workshops,” the White House said in a statement posted at its Web site.

That just pisses me off. To "...use experience gained in the US to assess China's potential..."? To "...accelerate development of shale gas resources in China..."? To "...promote shale gas investment in China..."? Why doesn't Obama promote US shale gas for the benefit of the US?

I agree with you that Obama is basically giving away American technologyto appease the chineese so they will keep buying our debt. Obama is chopping up the furniture to burn.
The way I think of it, at this point in the game we're sitting here with a pair of deuces, maybe 2 pair of something. Looks like they've got the royal flush and most everyone's chips. Are we going to up the ante and throw in the farm, fold with the few chips we have left and hope for a better hand and turn around in the game, or cash out never hoping to recoup? Everyone makes a different call in the end.

Kinda like the end of that LSU game yesterday. :-P

thanks :0)
But shouldn't we have a more experienced player holding such an important hand when the game comes down to having to bet the farm?
Or has the game already been rigged and all this is just for show?
I'll just say this, then I'm done here as I see Keith has now started a blog to continue this. I hope all others will be respectful of his wishes and continue the discussion there if they feel inclined to do so.

Actually, PG, I believe Pres. Obama is sitting in for the hand someone else started playing.

This is from just about a year ago...

I believe it goes further back than that..
Remember Ross Perot speaking about that big sucking sound? That was before Bush. Now we are seeing the fallout. The Chinese can pretty much call the shots just like most bankers can with most businesses. Nothing, including our oil and gas industries, are exempt so long as we are dependent upon China to keep our government subsidized with some kind of cash flow. Perhaps there is more to it than we are allowed to know why our Natural Gas is not being promoted as it should. Can we be sure who really is calling the shots any more? I doubt if it would make much of a difference who our president was.. Without the Chinese, our government would have to compete with all of us for funds. What would the interest rates look like if that happened? This is not political, it's reality!
What is it that makes all worshipers of the "anointed one" seem to be blind to facts and further more, see no evil, hear no evil but don't mind speaking evil.
My guess it would be cause China holds so much of our debt. Its sad to see the United States being held captive by our debt. Down the road we will all be working for 50 cents a day and exporting pieces of cheap crap to China.
