Is our greener future a gas?

Director Gregory Kallenberg talks about the energy implications of his documentary Haynesville.

by Amber Wilkinson

US documentary Haynesville premiered at Sheffield Doc/Fest last month. Now, the film - which tracks the discovery of the United States' largest natural gas field and the find's implications both for the local community living on top of it and for a country attempting to move to a greener energy future - has been selected to show as part of the United Nations Climate Summit in Copenhagen.

"It was a bit of a surprise to us," says director Gregory Kallenberg. "They called and told us about a film programme they were presenting and asked if we would be interested in coming over and showing our film. I thought about it for, let's say, 1.53 seconds and accepted. It's a huge honor to show Haynesville at the Climate Summit."

Sesport, someone needs to tell Gregory to bring his film to the West Coast. The environmentialists out here would love this film.
Ahh, Popcorn Vendor, tell the West Coast there are now airplanes that fly between them & us. We need more tourism dollars to keep our economy stable. And if they come and dress up like, say, potted trees a la the "naked lady in a cage" it might garner them some press. lol

Okay, outside the box thinking now, we have possibly 2 options ... simulcast, perhaps that Skype thingy could help, or "bootleg." I'm more inclined to favor a simulcast as I don't think anyone named Kallenberg would look too favorably on anything involving the word "bootleg" and one should avoid, at all costs, being on the receiving end of any repercussions. 80)
Added note: You might want to warn them, though, if they come with any of this in mind ...

that I'm armed with a helmet & hip waders, I've added a fire hose to the mix, and I know where fire hydrants are strategically placed. As a fence sitting moderate Indy, I'm of a mind we can get 'er done (the HS) in a responsible manner (and for/to the mutual benefit of many), and their "green technologies" still have a way to go in R&D. Optional energy sources also will be needed to produce those technologies, and costs are still outside the pocketbooks of Everyday Joes, IMO. And, I'm still not willing to ride a bike on my patio to toast my bread. lol 80)
Ron Webb I think will be dishing up popcorn
I'm in this movie!!
Great! What was your part?
Looks like we have a few copies available for purchase - look for more information tomorrow (Friday).
Keith. I will definitely purchase a copy. However, I continue to consider it a reasonable proposition to have a GHS showing at the RFC. Split the gate. Promote the site. Let members have the opportunity to shake your hand. I do think that we should bring Les B. in as an added attraction.
Do you also continue to consider it a reasonable proposition to serve those hors d'ouvres? lol
Definitely. But I have decided to call them Lapin On Toast. And since the patrons of the RFC are so cosmopolitan, one or more will whisper to the others, "it's okay, it's rabbit".
Cough up the recipe for Shaletinis so we can serve them, or get enough Cosmos into those patrons and they won't even care, I imagine. Dress the garcons in squirrel suits, too. It could be our own HS signature gimmick modeled after other certain "lapins." lol

I too would like to sample the GHS Shaletini. Unfortunately our bartender has not posted the recipe. The RFC is avante garde but I think they would draw the line at their staff wearing squirrel costumes. Are you suggesting that we get the patrons of the RFC shnockered?
