I see where they are selling just under 100,000 acres in Harrison, Panola, Northern Caddo and Northern Bossier.

HK,
And I think the shale will die somewhere in Bienville Parish. Just where?
Hi Jay and Happy New Year! Still no news in the Golddonna area? Should we hope for something in 2010 or put it to rest for another forty years?
jay,
is there alot of difference in the geology of sabine and natchitoches parish? we have land leased in both parishes. some of the leases that are running out is being extended by encana near the messenger well. If the area is not productive considering all the other acreage that encana has that needs to be drilled why would they extend leases in natchitoches parish?
ShaleGeo,

you state here that the messenger is a haynesville well the discussion on feb 28 under old leases it is said to be a bossier mostly lower cotton valley as skip peel pointed out the well has been discussed at length but since it is the only well drilled in natchitoches parish to date it has some importance to the area!
Jay, your opinion is tops as far as I am concerned. I am anxious to see additional wells drilled in the area to get a better feel for what really exists down there (HS, BS, MBS, CV).
Jay, the wells would likely be economic but most companies are limited to drilling within cash flow. Also, I think manpower resources limit the ability to drill the number of required wells during the time available.
Jay,
Does this mean 18N 16W Section 2 will be out of the running?
Thanks
ShaleGeo, Sorry, still nothing at osa1954@hotmail.com account. must be something i'm doing wrong. nothing shows up in the junk file either. thanks for trying. jhh
Jay

Would you mind trying to send the "out of core map" to my email at: dmr6111@flash.net

I will let you know if it comes through and I will try forwarding it to JHH.

Many thanks
where is the map for out of the core
Jay, this is consistent with Chesapeake's comments during their 3rd Qtr conference call. Primarily Chesapeake said they plan to sell acreage that they could not get drilled before lease expiration. If you recall Chesapeake originally built a large acreage position in the northern half of the Haynesville Shale play. Later, as more data become available regarding the Bossier Shale play, Chesapeake began to shift more focus to the southern areas where both Haynesville Shale and Bossier Shale are present. Because a very large portion of the acreage lies outside existing producing fields, most of their acreage is not held by production. This created the situation of not being able to get all their acreage drilled during the lease terms. Also, Chesapeake does not operate many units north of T17N and would not be in control of operations.
It's interesting that it appears (at least to this point) that CHK wants to retain all of its Shelby County acreage. Even after the poor results of the Harvey well.

Makes me wonder what zone the current "low quality" Harvey production is producing from. Maybe they tested something else first? Or, they're just wanting to hold for the Upper Bossier Sh.
