For us laymen who gain knowledge only through this forum...how does a pipeline on our property benefit us if there is no well yet?  A family member was contacted to have a survey done of our land for a pipeline...what does this mean?  Do we benefit?  Does this lock us into our lease which is due to expire in a matter of months (yes, we were the "lucky" few who leased at $125 per acre before HS run)?  Thanks for any info. you can give us.

If your property is in the core, the company is going to want to make sure that they spud the well (begin drilling) BEFORE the leases in your unit expire.

They are planning ahead for after the well is drilled.
Thanks for the response...and I apologize upfront for my ignorance. We're in section 34 (100+ acres) and not sure if we're "in the core" or not. If they're wanting to lay pipes, is there a chance they will drill on our land as well or we merely part of the path to a drill site that wouldn't necessarily benefit us in royalties? Should we even consider pipes being laid before drilling begins? I understand allowing pipes to be laid down is a "forever" thing and often compromises the land. I also read that pipes make way for a drilling pad on your own acreage. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help and info.
Which section 34?

You may have already granted the right to lay a pipeline in your lease.
Sorry- Sabine Parish- T-10N; R-11W. We did have a general lease. Will have to look to see if it grants the right to a pipeline.

If you are not close to the boundary of your unit (more than likely the Section line) then you don't have much to worry about as far as having the well pad on your property.

One way or the other, you need to review your lease and see exactly what you gave them the power to do.

BUT WITHOUT DRILL SITES AND PIPELINES NONE OF THE MONEY FLOWS EITHER!
