well if she is on the walker county side she has a dry hole property because there is no production in that area i know we drilled all over that area and there is nothing there. look it up ob the rrc map

Jerry, if you noticed I made specific reference to the Giddings Field which extends southwest from Grimes County (Richards, TX).

Because you have not named the play you are referring to, I assume you may be discussing the Bossier Sand & Deep Bossier Sand Plays that are north & northwest of Grimes County in Robertson, Freestone, Limestone & Leon Counties. Those plays have been under development since 2000 and EnCana has drilled some very high rate wells in the Deep Bossier Sand Play.

If anyone is interested I would be glad to post the historical production graphs for RR Districts 3 & 5 to show the contrast in the two regions.

i am not talking about the bossier sands i know all about that i own property in that area in the easton 10 survey i am say if she is at the walker county line she has a bad prospect and it ant worth nothing. if she would give the survey number it would help to explain to about the play in that area

Jerry,
I am not sure I know a survey number. I am in the BW Robinson Survey which is about six miles north of Huntsville, Texas. I have an undivided interest with my brother and sister of 200+ acres. I am not anywhere near a county line. I can tell you they drilled a dry hole at the edge of Grimes County and Walker County probably 5 years ago. However, that is a significant distance from my location. Can you tell me where I would find the survey number?

I am going to take Skip's advice and call my county clerk tomorrow.

Mary. Your County Clerk staff probably doesn't have the time to do research for you. They may answer some basic questions but they likely have a policy prohibiting their investing time in looking up the specifics of your ownership interest. My suggestion was to stop in and review the Day Book yourself. Or have a family member or friend do so if you can not. Members of the E. TX. county groups can give you some help in regard to on-line services for accessing country clerk records. Most charge a fee but that may be cheaper than making a trip home.

Mary, I am trying to learn how to use the TRRC site, so I used your question to practice. There are four B W Robinson surveys: A42, A460, A481, and A480. If you can tell me a road or street, I might be able to narrow it down for you. Hope this will help a little.

Mary if your in Huntsville Texas there is a play that cuts across there from the bosser sands play and that is a great play . the way you find the survey number is to look on your deed it will tell you like survey 120 or 15 or abstract 30 . just look on the deed or just tell that land man to send you the contract and tell he you will look it over and you get back with him. But dont sign anything that price is way out of line i know the area very well and it is a hot area for oil and gas

Mary, Your Survey number must be A42. I was able to find Wire Road in that survey. I hope this helps. I am new to oil and gas, but I do have some thoughts about your situation. The bonus amount is not as important as what is in the lease. My Mother is still bound by what was put in her lease in the 1930's by her grandparents. I think the rules are different in Texas and they can hold by production forever. You might want to find a Texas lawyer to look over the lease for you. Good luck.

Mary, LDH is correct that your survey is BW Robinson A-42.

There has been very little drilling in your immediate area but 5 miles to the west a fairly good well was drilled about 8 years ago that tested ~ 5 MMcfd in the Glen Rose and ~ 5 MMcfd in the James Lime. There were also a couple of wells about 5 miles to the east and southeast that tested < 0.5 MMcfd from some shallow gas formations.

Given the lack of activity in your area I concur with LDH you should probably focus more on the royalty % and other lease terms

the main two companies that show up for last couple of years leasing in Walker county:--as said NOT an active county
HORIZON BEND LLC
WHEELER OIL COMPANY LTD

You might want to also check out if they-the company wanting lease and issued permits--ie are they the operator/driller
per TRRC--permits--go check out Walker county and type in the survey name where your minerals are to check permits/activity
