I received lease papers for some land that my family has mineral interest in the NW1/4 NE1/4 of Section 17 all in Township 17 South, Range 19 West.  Could someone tell me what the going rate might be for this area.

I received an offer for $175/3/16/5 year in the vicinity.
We were offered only $100, 3/16 for 3yrs. This is in the old village field. It says the plan is to go into abandoned wells. Does that sound right?
Sounds like it could be right. This is what Southern Star Energy did in the old Sentell Field between Benton, La. and Bossier City. They have had good success. I keep up wit it as I own a little stock in SSE.

There are many, many depleted fields which could be made marginally, or better, profitable.
I tried to message you earlier but must have missed. I have minerals in two units drilled by Southern Star in the Sentell Field. I don't know what is considered to be a "good" well but one of these is definitely not "good." Also, the filings with the SEC do not indicate that Southern Star has been successful. In fact, it would not appear that they will be in business much longer. A long time ago the company claimed to have found the Haynesville in 2 locations but those wells have been sitting there without any activity for months and months. One owner told me that SS paid him for an extension. The company has failed to pay suppliers and has liabilities far exceeding assets. If you have any info that differs from this I would appreciate having it. Neilson Jacobs
I believe SSEY penetrated Haynesville shale in at least 2 wells. I examinde some of the cores onsite just over a year ago. I thought they looked pretty good, but, I do not know much about shale production. It has been the intention to try and sell their acreage and production as they probably cannot afford to drill a horizontal well. Until proven wrong by drilling I will continue to believe shale production is viable. I know they had a prospective buyer recently but deal fell through. I have not talked to anyone at SSEY in a good while.

The wells drilled to Haynesville shale were just to evaluate potential and find a buyer. I will attempt to call contact with them and find out latest. Likewise I would appreciate any info you may learn. Being in AZ it is a little hard for me to keep up. However, I do make very frquent trips to La. to look after my interests in North Shongaloo-Red Rock Field. That is my "home territory" where I grew up.
Where in the county is your land located? And, what company made the offer? We have property in the southern part of Columbia County and have been contacted about leasing some acerage but no firm offer at this time.
I am in Claiborne Parish/Union Parish in LA just a mile south of the state line. Hope I didn't mislead. Just wanted to give a feel for the area.
I got 175.00 for 5 years with a 3/16th .
Where is your land located? Is it in southern Columbia County?
I'm not sure I don't have a section map of this county. It is in section 17 Township 17 South, Range 19 West.
have been offered $175/3/16th/ 4years with option for 4 additional years in Columbia Co. Not really a good deal. Turned it down.
Who is making these offers and a 4 year option is a long option?
