1) Devon has been approved by RRC on 10/22 to drill the Whitton 1-H well in the A.Gates survey / Abstract A-251.
This permit is approved for 18,500' and lists targets in three formations a. Center Haynesville b. Stockman Cotton Valley and C. Wildcat - for "exploritory test well only".
Very curious about what they might be looking for underneath the Haynesville and Cotton Valley?????
Also interesting to see this well be targeted for production, as it seems to be the furthest yet approaching into that area of NW Shelby County that had previously been written off.
the whitton is going to be fraced any day now. the pipeline is being built. it is an 8" pipe.
the adams well pipeline is also being built at this time. the pipe used for that one is 10".
i dont really know... but 8 and 10 inch seems big for a gathering line.

Cool... maybe this means they will be sending out some data on it soon... I still want to hear what they found during the exploritory phase of the drilling... sure be nice if they find something bigger down below the known shale plays. Thank you!
Devon Energy completed the Whitton Gas Unit Well No. 1H to 11,635 feet 9.5 miles southeast of Center in the Carthage Field. On an adjustable choke the well potentialed 6.650 million cubic feet of gas. Production is in the Haynesville Shale.
