This well is not a cotton valley oil play, that for one thing is a fact, the CV formation is much shallower on the state line, this is a big gas well, I heard it from the driller, and it is in fact from the Haynesville formation. The rub is whether its a sand well, a transition well, or god forbid, all shale. They have been very tight lipped about this well. My opinion is that its probably mostly sandy, and I do hope I am completely wrong, GATRPAW has been all over this one. Only time will tell.
Wow, there are so many know-it-alls on this board.

Not everything is Haynesville, and yes, I'm aware that the CV is shallower (everything is up there) and it is on 160 acre (not 640) units. I am also aware that the CV is more oil than gas up there. While there may be some possibly good gas production from the Smack or HA (I don't think it will be anything like the big HA wells), the secondary and primary play is likely the CV, which is proven for oil. This is an old Crystal Field. With the price of oil as high as it is, don't forget about oil plays.
No one was trying to be a know it all, but it says on sonris exactly what this well is, it is perforated in the Haynesville formation, so that would preclude it from being CV or anything else. Yes its most likely a sand-transition well, no one said it would be bigger than any other well. Also most all Hoston Cotton Valley and deeper formations are always on 640 ac units What are you getting at?
MOVING IN WORKOVER RIG - PREPARE TO PERFORATE HAYNESVILLE ZONE

This was on Sonris.... so is it Cotton Valley?
No its not, and I am not trying to be a know it all, there has been enough confusion about this well as it is, and false statements and opinions just contribute more to rumours and innuendo.
Bottom line Chechmateking is time will tell. Agreed?
CMK...there is a lot of Info that these people have no idea about . When all is said and done they will be like PittBoss and tigerdog and we will see who the know it alls are as they disappear into another site somewhere!!!
Yes ETOCO has business with CHK
No doubt about it Tom, I am interested in the area 10-15 miles south of this well, no one has thrown in the towel yet lol.
And that's great... no one should... would be very premature. If there's nothing there then I'm sure no one will drill or lease...so no problem.
They say on their own web page that they work with CHK and XTO.
How do you know?
