EnCana Permits 2nd Haynesville Shale Well in Liberty Field & T12N-R8W (3/5/10)

EnCana has received a permit for their 2nd Haynesville Shale well in T12-R8W.  This well location will be another key data point as it is further east than any previous permitted location.  It is also the eighth Haynesville Shale well permitted south of Ashland Road.

Stephen, this well was spud on 3/17/10 but information indicates they are waiting on another rig to actually drill the well. It is possible that one is actually moving on site as several wells reached TD last week.

Centerpoint Field Services would likely be the company laying any gathering line to the well site.

i have been contacted by centerpoint for permission to survey, was reading the row list on pipeline on this site, love the hard work you are all doing for us landowners. thanks again

Stephen, spud just means to start drilling the well. TD stands for total depth and means the rig has finished drilling the well and can be moved to a new location.

Sorry about using the abbreviation as sometimes I forget.

Rowan Rig #76 was moved in yesterday. Rigging up today. Drilling will start soon I imagine.

What is the typical time from start of drilling to the posting of well information, e.g. pressure, aloowables, estimated potential, etc...?

Todd, it has varied tremendously due to several factors. Wells are taking 30-60 days to drill from spud to total depth. After the well is drilled the operator will schedule the completion and fracture stimulation. This timing generally depends on when the gathering gas pipeline will be installed for the well's location. Because Centerpoint Field Services is currently installing their pipeline system south of Ashland Road it should available soon for this well. Frac'ing a well only takes 7-10 days.

So, with the drilling starting about May 1st the well could be on production by mid-July or early August. Unfortunately it can take the State about 1-3 months after a well is producing to post the test results. So let's say the test results should be available 4-6 months after drilling starts. Some wells have taken much longer because the operator delayed completion or test results took longer to post.

Does anyone have any recent information for this well? I saw where they hit 13,501 feet on June 11...I can only assume they started drilling horizontally at that point since the TVD was to be 13,716 feet.
