Skip: Almost 30 years ago Hunt Oil ran seismic tests and leased up there just before the huge bust in the O&G bubble. They never worked it. Is it possible XTO is picking it back up? They would have all of Hunt's work ups after the buyout. Just curious. Thanks for the post. I learn plenty from you.
Joel, I am unsure if XTO would rely on a 30 year old seismic survey. I suspect that the technology has changed markedly in that time. Even with current 3-D seismic I think that some science from the well would be equally important.
Simply put, is XTO working off the Hunt Book? I certainly am aware of the technology change. When pricing was high, Hunt leased to all the way south of Leton 30 years ago(Smackover). Do you think XTO will follow suit?
Joel, I haven't seen any SMK completion reports as yet that would support that level of leasing. I focus on the Haynesville/Bossier Play and have only a passing interest in other plays. I post what I find for the N. LA. parishes that are not a part of the shale for the interest and potential benefit of GHS members with minerals in those parishes. I wish I could be more helpful but my knowledge in that area is limited.
XTO is working Hunt stuff. When they bought the Hunt entity they got a lot of HBP property. They have been drilling the Annona Chalk in LaSalle Parish for quite some time.
Thanks for the input.
Hunt still has their interests in NS-RR Field. XTO bought Phillips interest from Enerquest and Fina. Hunt owns 1/3 WI and XTO has 2/3rds WI less the very small WI I own in 4 sections. Drilling in my area has been ongoing for last year. Initially, in the 50's this was primarily Smackover B zone play with good Buckrange, Tokio, and some Petit lime production. For last 10 years it has focused on Smack C. XTO recently completed well in S.11, T23N, R9w. Pipeline being installed now. XTO has plans for about 8 more wells in the area.
Skip,

The hearing notice and the heading title for this subject are not in agreement. The notice attached to this is for alternate unit wells in S. 12, T23N, R9W (on my landand and where I was born) and S. 13, T23N, R9W. Hearing date for these locations has been set for 7/13.

With the approval of these locations XTO will have 7 approved locations to drill within about 1.5 mile radius, They completed one in S.11 about a month ago but are waiting on pipeline to put it on line.

This old field still has good potential. Even though we have seen a number of wells drilled in last 5 to 10 years there are still good locations there and I am hopeful Exxon-Mobil will be our stimulus package. XOM cleared last hurdle in acquisition of XTO last Friday. I am very pleased that they will be keeping most XTO employees as I have developed go working relationship with quite a few of them over past 10 years.

Skip, I do appreciate your insertion of info. such as this, even though it is outside Haynesville Shale topic. As you know we don't have and will not have H. Sh. production. But we do have H. Sd., Smackover, and others.

Thanks.

Aubrey~

Thanks for the correction. As I review the unit applications on the Commissioner's public hearing schedule daily, I do run across applications which I think GHS members would find of interest even though they are not shale related. Unfortunately my area of knowledge does not extend beyond the shale and it's good to have members who can interpret and expand upon the development activity in those areas. I've taken my lumps in the past by stating my opinion that the shale does not extend into the vast majority of Webster and the area north and east of Claiborne. In the age of the Internet, information is available for those who choose to search. And the participation of those land/mineral owners in our region but outside the bounds of the shale is a part of why GHS has experienced such impressive growth in members and continues to be a great resource for mineral owners regardless of where their minerals are located. I wish every parish and county had it's own member/geologist. Regards, Skip
Mr. Sanders:

Have you heard anymore of Brown Dense and Webster?
Nothing more than rumors. Nevertheless I am convinced that has stimulated much of the lease interest in stateline trend. It appears to me that in field drilling may be on upswing in area.
Thanks for your reply. I always see what you have to say and I am glad that you are a member of this group. Perhaps you remember the interest Hunt showed in the N. Webster reaches back during the old Tuscaloosa Trend days. They really had intentions of working that Smackover up there. Perhaps those days will return and stay much longer.
