Encana has permitted to this formation in north Desoto. I have heard that Petrohawk has 2 test wells to the Smackover in south Caddo. Is this a 3rd gas formation or part of Bossier and or Haynesville?

Thanks!
Hi Aubrey

Thanks for the info. I did not know that about the Smackover. I guess units can be different. Sounds like that has been set up a long time
Is it a vertical Aubrey?
IMO, the well permits list Smackover as the targeted depth but the target formation is the Haynesville. I believe that the true Smackover prospects are in the state line area of LA. & AR. I know it get confusing.
Skip you a correct it does get confusing. I have property in the state line area and in the shale area so I try to keep up with both. It is a good problem to have I might say. A company called Pinebelt has been leasing in the state line area. Have you ever heard of them?
Marc, I have only heard of Pinebelt in our GHS discussions.
Go to http://pinebeltenergy.com/16401.html and you can read about Pinebelt. Buying leases is just one of many services that they offer to the O&G industry. They are buying over a large area of S AR and N LA for an undisclosed O&G company that will probably be a major player in the Smackover brown dense oil play.

Based on discussions on the Smackover Sand Deposit, sounds like some of the companies in the HS may be trying to sneak in and take a look at the brown dense. It is still very early in the brown dense play.

That what I think as well. Sound like someone is going to hit the area hard. I hope so. I figure they will get a lot of acreage tied for as long as possible to develop the play.
If you have SMK formation in your area, there may be brown dense there also as it is considered the bottom of the SMK.
What is parish's would be on the list for Smackover? I know Union would be one along with Claiborne. What are the others?
Marc,

Also Webster and Bossier Parishes. Columbia and Lafayette Counties. And I am sure there are others. I stay pretty close to home in Webster Parish and Columbia County.
What about Morehouse parish? Got some at the Union/Morehouse line?
