OK. I have interest in one section. I know the section number because it is on a small xto map. And it is section 2. Therefore I don't know the sectio(s) above section 2. Where does one find a map with section numbers on it?

sonris.com interactive maps, and turn on the various layers including townships and sections. Click on the little "T" symbols to get it to show you the section numbers.

It's worth learning how to use sonris.
Here is what a "Township" is comprised of - each number represents a "section" (each section is one square mile):
6 5 4 3 2 1
7 8 9 10 11 12
18 17 16 15 14 13
19 20 21 22 23 24
30 29 28 27 26 25
31 32 33 34 35 36

Sorry, this drawing is not too good. But you can see the sequence of Sections. (Each Township contains 36 Sections).
