Keith,

I see no response and a bump, maybe members are not sure what "where members are" means. Location or where they are in terms of leasing.

I just want to let everyone know that the Shaler Map is nice place to show your location.

Hello,
We leased with Petrohawk July of 2008, got advance royalty check November 2008. The advance covered three years with option to renew for 2 more years to be paid at same rate. How can I find out if there has been any activity, or if activity is imminently planned for our section? Section 4 T16 N R 9 W I thought our contract said they must start drilling before the end of 3 years or pay the bonus again. Can anyone direct me to where to find this information?

Section 4 is a Petrohawk Haynesville Drilling Unit. They are drilling a well currently next door in Section 3. The rig was reported drilling on its 53rd. day last Friday so it should be very near total depth. There is no way to know when Petrohawk will frac and complete the well but it's success could influence whether they drill in your section. They could drill Section 4 next or wait until the primary term is almost up on your lease. We won't know until they apply for a permit in 4. The 2 year extension is an option so Petrohawk has no requirement to exercise it. I expect they will drill within the primary term but if they do not, I would not expect them to exercise their extension option. Petrohawk, like all the other shale players, has more dry gas than they can say grace over.

Skip, Petrohawk has drilled a well in section 25 that will benefit mineral owners in my section (section 36) if completed. Even though the surface well is drilled in another section, will this count as a drilled well (for section 36) and hold my lease, which is set to expire in June 2011? No well has been drilled in my section yet, though units have been formed.

marilyn, It is common for horizontal Haynesville wells to have a surface location in one section and the producing portion of the lateral in an adjoining section. When reviewing the well scout data in a SONRIS well file look at the first (bottom) entry for location. There will be a notation similar to this, " PBHL 450' FSL and 1000' FEL, Section 10". In my example, the Planned Bottom Hole Location would 450' From the South Line and 1000' From the East Line of Section 10. The PBHL denotes the section where the perforations in the lateral are located which is the section that will receive the royalty revenue from that well. Production in a section holds a lease. A surface location does not. Units are valid indefinitely and do not require any wells to be drilled.

How do I get on a group that discusses leasing?  Oil company wants to know whether I want to give /lease right of way or sell easement to a well.. Which and what does each situation mean to land owner over time?  And how do I find out what going rate is per acre to lease for a well site?
