David, I also wish all the members could see the original discussion thread.  As that is not possible and since you are able to ascertain the specifics of that thread without ever having seen it, I offer you my answer to your question.  "What can be done about another mineral owner (it makes no practical or legal difference who they are) who wishes to hold out for terms better than the operator claims they are willing to accept"?  Simple answer, nothing.  But then again why should anyone be able to do something about it?  How would you feel if you were in negotiations with EOG and they were spreading the word that you were being unreasonable and hurting everyone else by being unreasonable?  Do you in fact know that the terms the other mineral owner is interested in are unreasonable?  Or do you just trust EOG?  Would you like it if others would criticize you or attempt to interfere in your dealing with your private asset?  The key term here seems to be "investor" so I will give you the answer that I provided in the original thread.  Why wouldn't investors be just as interested in royalty income as any other lessor?  I doubt they purchased the minerals with the idea of never receiving any return on their investment.  And do you think it possible that mineral investors may have superior information, experience and professional support in the management of their mineral interests?  I do not know if you will consider this response "positive" or not.  I will gladly leave it the members reading it to determine that for themselves.

I am so sorry to hear that she discontinued her membership.  I tried to remind everybody that we had rules on GHS's website that prohibited attacking other members, but some members just tend to get carried away sometimes.  They really don't realize how insulting and hurtful their comments can be to some of us who are not as knowledgable as they are.  I don't think their intentions are to attack anyone personally - they just wanna help keep us straight on O&G issues!.....  it's kinda like having a teacher who gets upset with his/her students!!!!    

 

So please tell her to come on back.....we're really a nice bunch of folks on GHS.
