Here's a link to a calculator you can use to figure your estimated royalties:
Hey Linda,
I've read some of your posts and know that you are already getting royalties....I'm interested to know if this royalty calculator seems to be 'ringing true' to what you are receiving. The royalty calculators I've used (one is an Excel sheet that I got off this site) indicated the amount to be half of what this calculator indicates. I realize this calculator probably doesn't figure in the decline curve. Anyway, just wondering what your experience has been with this or other calculators.
Thanks!

Hey JeffNParis,
If you know the price of gas and amount of production for a given month, then yes, you can rely on the calculator. There is another calculator located at www.shalebiz.com that will allow you to figure your monthly royalty. I like using that one!

(2 / 645 x .125) x (434,000 X $4.00)
0.00031 X .125 x $1,736,000.00
.0003875 x $1,736,000.00
$6727.00 gross

Congratulations on getting a well!!!!....... Your first check will probably be for several months production.

Jerry, my final figure would be incorrect because the decimal point is in the wrong place.
so it should be 672.70 is this correct
thanks jerry

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
