One of them is in A47, which is 2 miles NW of the recently-announced US Forest Service Z Redmond well. It will be north of 103 and east of 1277.

The other two are parallel wells on USFS land in Section A-274, 2 miles east of the big Blackstone A-398 well that came in strong.

Is it me, or is Encana going nuts with this acreage SW of SA???

Who knows.  Maybe you could contact your landman and see if they have any plans for those leases.  Not sure if they would tell you or not but it might be worth a try.

Interesting timing. Devon just applied today for a permit east of San Augustine.

Good deal.  It will still be ineresting to see what they do with their leases South of San Augustine.

What is going on with the leasing, now.  What is a good lease price and % in SA County?

Steve, I am happy to see them doing something but it was a James Lime permit.
Takin' the cheap way out to hold the lease?
No, it's a second unit well, JJ.
I own leased interests in the Sigler survey east of San Augustine.  Is that what Devon permitted?  They told me that they were planning drilling this year on Sigler as they have had success in that area.
Mark, the Devon well is in P. A. Sublett, A-44.  The RRC GIS map is not working tonight so I can't look to see where the Sigler survey is located.

It is WM Sigler A-249 on the GIS

How much is Encanta paying now on leases?  What do you mean "going nuts?"

I haven't heard anything recently with Encana, but in mid-2010 they were paying about $1500-$2,000/acre.

By going nuts, I just mean that they are suddenly getting permits faster than any other company in San Augustine. Most of their SA wells have come in very strong, so I'm wondering if they may focus more on SA and less on Louisiana.
