What if you decide not to lease with anyone and you hold a small amount of acreage in a section. What is the procedure and what are the advantages or disadvantages?

I would think the major advantage would be you have a very good chance to make more money off of your land in the long run.

Disadvantage would be it will take longer for you to get your money, and it sounds like some people are saying the O&G companies will try and to stick it to land owners who do this.
I agree wholeheartedly . If you consider that they are sticking it to the agreeable , what do you think is their view on the holdouts.
Oil and Gas co. Stick it to you? They have, they do and they will every chance they get!!!!!

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
