WOW! Here is some good news.  BHP Billiton, the company that bought Petrohawk for 17+ billion earlier this year has announced plans to spend 4.5 billion dollars developing shale gas.

That should be good news to folks leased to Petrohawk who have wondered how BBP would handle their shale assets.  Looks like they are doing to DRILL (perhaps to pay of Petrohawk's debt?)

And, BHP Billiton paid off CHK early (with a discount).  Sister site GoMarcellusShalers opine CHK "international energy partner" Utica-wise...could be Total SA, or Marathon, or XOM...But, I wouldn't count out BHP Billiton.  They surely have the cash CHK needs.

????

Update: "BHP Billiton Finance (BHP) has upsized its three-part bond deal by 50% to $3 Billion, a source familiar with the deal said Wednesday (11/16/2011)..."

"According to data provider Dealogic, BHP was last seen in the U.S. markets in March 2009 when it sold $3.25 Billion ..." (in bond deal)  ???

BHPBilliton looking for U.S. Shale oil.   Utica???  Interesting...

Correction...Total SA paid off CHK early, with a 9% discount.  (Not BHP Billiton)

Please excuse the misinformation.  Thanks.

I don't get it.... Gas is under $3.50, with no improvement in sight....

look at the storage #'s.

Look at what the O&G companies have figured out...  They can make money on fees/charges/acquisitions/hedges/Trusts/IPOs/VPPs/Master Limited Partnerships/Spinning Off Closely-Held Subsidiaries/JVs/Stockholders and Stakeholders/etc., etc., etc.

And, let's not forget "Hollywood Accounting" practices.  IMO

The O&G Companies have found a way to make money the way Wall Street does...The "Promises Of Something Great."

The "product" isn't really all that important anymore.  It's just a means to an end.

More opining/whining per me.

Henry,

They are all running each other over for liquid shale plays...They are divorcing/selling dry shale plays.

Where will HS be in a year???  Most O&G shale players need to keep pumping the dry gas plays for income $$$ to fund their "rush" for oil shale land, or stay afloat.  It matters not what price per mcf right now.  The production has to continue.  Catch 22.

Paraphrasing Mr. CHK, he doesn't care where nat gas prices go, even if they go to zero.  CHK, today, has to keep production #s up, too much debt to deal with, and CHK has figured out how to narrow its debt gap in many ways.  "Deducts" and CapEx charges in EXCESS help CHK in many ways. i.e. lower taxes, higher withholdings.  And, last but not least...CHK mineral owners are being "tapped out" on their CHK royalty checks.  IMO

Again, waiting on the CHK Pony Express Mail for 3rd Qtr. 2011 Documents...

Henry...You will find this funny and typically amazing...I got a CHK e-mail the other day informing me that "if CHK decides that 'payout' status has been reached:"

"...There will be a 'brief' period for our division order analysts to 'verify' ownership before the APO 'decks' are invoked.  I  verified that your correct address is in our system and I can assure you that when your check is issued it will be 'retroactive' of the 'actual' pay out date of the well."

I am forwarding All of this nonsense to the LA State Attorney's Office, and Other Interested Parties.

Funny thing, Henry, up to this point in "Our" Financial Relationship ( I would call it something else, but I try and keep things out of the gutter language trough)... CHK seems to be CONVINCED before "PAYOUT" status...That CHK "verfied" MY "ownership" WAAAAAAAAAY back in June 2010!!!!!   When CHK started withholding ALLL MY MINERAL MONEYS and BEGAN USING MY MINERAL MONEYS TO PAY FOR THEIR WELL!!!!

Things over at CHK never cease to amaze and outrage me.   LOL

What a crock of %$&&***&&&&%%$#@#**.  Sorry Henry, I stepped down into the 'trough.' Help,  LOL

Someday, Henry, Someday Soon...
