Thanks dbob,
Very good map to post here of Leon Co. ------ you once again deserve a medal dbob ----- those color sales maps with all the bells and whistles can sure get ones heart rate up if your "on strike" ---- we need a current wall map of all the counties around here like this one then we would not have to guess about what was going on we could just look at the map for guidance.
Looks like at least a Dozen players in Leon Co. and several of the BIG BOYS have arrived to play as well ------- It has taken about a year for this activity to work it's way across Madison and Leon Counties and jump the river into Houston County. ---- Hard to say about all the blank open acreage it might be HBP from several decades ago ------ or owned by individual investors ----- Hope someone will post a map like this for Madison County soon .
Its all about good sources of info- I didn't find this myself. I'd love to have a Walker/Houston/Trinity County map with current lease holders.
Most of the well data cited is public knowledge, but my experience in reviewing records for the area has been that production is highly variable (e.g. mostly from conventional, small discrete reservoirs). For instance, there is a nice little shallow conventional oil spot near little Centerville, or some of the gas production near Groveton.
I'd be willing to put a map together of various existing wells, if I could get some assistance in identifying wells of interest, etc. First step would probably be to get an excel spreadsheet together with the basic information - that way it can be collected in a common format and shared freely.
Thanks for all you do and offer to do Dbob,
But you really should not volunteer for everything --- so you will have time to spend with friends/family ------- we will keep searching these marketing sites until we find more maps ---- to me there is much more to learn about the direction of a play from a map like this than a photo of activity.
I think I know someone that has a paid membership to PLS ---- I will ask them to watch for more good EAST Tx Maps and FWD them to me.
DH,
Here is a link to the Gastar website. They are adjacent to EnCana in Leon & Robertson Counties. Map attached.

Also, look at pages 19 & 20 of this presentation from January.
I like it --I LIKE IT
OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL RAINBOW MAP that has a 50 mile wide OIL WINDOW ---- Looks like it goes from Huntsville to Buffalo ---- Takes in all of Trinity Co. Boscoe ---- Don't you know our viewers from the Middle East are crying right now.
Jffree, you do good and put in extra overtime every time you get a BONUS lol
Guys,
am i correct in noticing that the game is moving up to Trinity County, and the northern part may in fact be a liquids play?
it seems activity is increasing. Are the low gas prices pushing for liquids exploration priorities?
Europe,
In general the play is advancing to the East/North East , but it seems terribly slow at one well at a time ----- looks like someone would try to "get out front" and skip over a few miles and "wildcat" a few wells ----- I agree with Boscoe in that the faith of Trinity county may rest in the RANGE well North of Huntsville Tx yet it's been many months and not much info is hitting the public domain from that well. We know that Texkon has applied for a couple of drill sites with the USFS in Trinity Co. but has yet to apply for a permit with the TRRC so this means that the Forest Service "as usual" is taking up lots of time doing all their environmental work.
FYI -- the farther south you go the deeper EFS gets ---- the deeper you go the more likely it will be GAS
Crimson Energy is in Brazos Co.. They are private and there is not a lot available on the web but this page has a little info about East Texas.

The map depicting the general location of parcels nominated for the July BLM lease sale can be found here: http://www.blm.gov/pgdata/etc/medialib/blm/nm/programs/0/og_sale_no...
Please note that these leases are good for a fairly extended period so even if not in the current development area may be of interest for the future.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
