My father-in-laws GM was built in MEXICO.

How can you criticize a product you don't know anything about. From what you say the car or truck would not start when you tried to test drive one. I doubt this. I didn't say my teeth got jarred but "that would jar your teeth loose". Are you saying your car or imports don't break down? Every import dealership I see has a service department for some reason. How do you know from a first experience that American made cars break down if you have never owned one. Sounds like hearsay to me.

Can you provide a balance sheet for both domestic and foreign auto manufacturers? With Foreign manufacturers building in the US, and domestic manufacturer building outside the US, I am curious to know exactly how much money, regardless of foreign or domestic manufacturer, remains in the US. Any assistance you can offer, would be greatly appreciated.

The last time that I owned an American made vehicle was in 1990. It was a new Ford van, top of the line, all the bells and whistles. I had nothing but problems with it. I soon found out FORD stands for F ix O r R epair D aily! It had a nominal trade in value at the end of the 36 months that I owned it.
I bought my first Toyota in 1998. I have since owned 3 other Toyota and Nissan vehicles. The trade in value remains high. I have never had one moments trouble with any of the vehicles. My husband was still driving his Nissan pick up with over 320,000 miles when he was involved in an accident that totaled the little gem. He still grieves over that truck! My money is on the foreign makers. They seem to know how to build a vehicle that is not only safe to drive but will last until I can get it paid off!!

You are right Cathaus! I have a relative that bought a Toyota 15 years ago, and they are still driving it. Sure they had to get new tires and the general stuff, but they never had to worry about if they were going to get from point A to point B. Also it still gets good gas mileage. It was a Corolla. And if I may add the uphostery is still in tack.
