This is a location which has had a W1 filed as of today. Its on the Walker/San Jacinto County line, about 5 m SE of Riverside. There is demonstrated potential in the Buda and Georgetown by nearby, older wells - API 471 00097, API 471 -30231, I think around 12,000 feet. One of the historical documents I reviewed on these wells references high CO2 in the gas stream, and there was a reported bottomhole temp above 320.
SM's proposed well is oriented north/south and has a lateral length of about 4700'. Just guess, but provided SM is including the lateral length in the total depth, that acutally puts this well in the Woodbien or Austin Chalk....
I think this is the first modern test this far south or east. If productive, it opens up a pretty big swath.

dbob,
SM showing moving a "Scandrill" Rig ON SITE HERE --------- think the name of the rig was "PRODUCTION"???
Interesting, lets see how it goes. 45 days on site?
Think they have been getting to 12,500' around here in about 30 days if all goes well ------ One of these rigs stopped to log and shoot cores for 48 hrs and the coring tool broke off down hole ---- cost them a week and a bunch of $ not sure if they got any cores or not ------ Would think that SM might take it slow and look around real good in that dark wildcat hole ------ is it an offset to anything dbob?
Yes, there are some nearby wells with Buda and Georgetown production- see API #'s above . provided there are no big faults in the area, I think its a relatively low risk prospect. Anyone got eyes on the ground in the area?
That ones a long way out of my travels --- unless someone wants to chime in with info we will have to get by with Rig Data and or find someone with Drilling Info ----- BTW that reminds me I asked a friend to check out that Parten Dexter H Well on DI ---- reply was that it had never been drilled and nothing had ever been filed with the RRC except the Permit ---- Told Him that was very WRONG and I had first hand knowledge.
4/9/12 showing as SPUD DATE ---- Drilling ahead for 5 days ---- no depth reported --- directions would indicate this rig is on Old Staley rd about halfway between Riverside and Oakhurst
Maybe DH will see this - if spud 4/9/2012, they ought to be nearing the target formation and/or building their turn. Casing program will determine exact speed on this, hopefully, they do a better and more deliberate job than was done in a couple of wells in Trinity County a few years back,
will try to get some info this week-end --- very busy here right now and coming in to late to be able to run my traps
SM still drilling ahead no depth given ----- not much news but better than nothing ----------- seems like those turns have been giving all of them the devil in this area dbob
sounds like they are staying tight hole, which is a good sign for possible new leasing activity
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
