EOG is offering more because they are competing with Halcon. Halcon was late to the party and came in with opening offers of $500 and a quarter. Last time I looked Devon had no competition in the bulk of their AOI.
My problem with all of this dividing up of the forums is that we are missing info that may be helpful at some point. I do understand that it takes competition to move the prices up. But at the same time if people know that within the same play there is a great difference from one side to the other then they need to start asking questions to a company like Devon why is my lease worth so much less than the leases on the West side of the play. Its just good to know about the large scope of things rather than be so very specific when this spreads over a large area that encompasses a number of parishes.

If you get email alerts every time a new discussion is started or a new response is made to a specific discussion thread that you are following or in which you have made a prior response it's hard to miss anything.
I was not aware you could do that.
I've mentioned it several times lately as I understand how difficult it can be to keep up with everything of interest on GHS without using this feature.

Thanks Skip,
Very good post and very informative. Thanks again.
My only concern about doing these is wouldn't I have gotten 10 emails in the last hour for this discussion alone? If you are following a few discussions and posted a couple of responses you could get a hundred of emails in a day. Who reads that many emails?
I do. And anyone else who is sufficiently interested. You can always click on Stop Following at any time you get tired of a particular discussion thread and the emails will stop.
And you're welcome, Joe. Pass the word.
Should we start raising funds for a spy drone? lol.
Mark, a group is only as good as it membership, so start digging, learning and sharing. There really isn't one expert with all the answers. After you've called around, come back here and share what you found.
All kidding aside, I looked at getting a drone for an oil and gass project recently. Too cost prohibitive, but a tethered ballon/camera system that could be winched up to say 300' can provide a nice view of a well site.
Or get a hunting lease on the property and set up a camera in a "deer stand".
I will post info on the Joe Jackson well on occasion in the Amite County Drilling Activity discussion in the future.
But, for now, it is at 14,200' with no problems. Replacing the bit now. Should be back drilling by early in the morning.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
