We signed a lease with a CHK landman a few months ago keeping the original notarized lease awaiting payment. However, the land man called stating the lease would not be honored. Now we are being contacted by a seismographic company wishing to perform testing. Our 82 acre tract is not leased and we do not know about seismographic testing. We were wondering if we should let them and any opinions or information would be greatly appreciated.

I just received a request from Porter & Associates in Shreveport for access and surface use for soil and environment testing for lignite. Have few acres 2 miles north of Creston in Natchitoches Parish. I also would appreciate opinions or information about this type of testing.
Two words....Strip Mine
They want to be sure the lease is recorded. They don't want to give you the money without being 100% sure they can get the lease in the courthouse. Call your landman, ask if you can trade the lease for a certified check.
Nah, i'm not callin the landman back, that was supposed to be the deal from the start. I think I will just frame the lease and hang it on the wall :). On a more serious note I would like to know why they are conducting seismic testing and what it consist of. I know they used to perform the test with dynamite, but my question is have they updated the technology and testing methods to where they don't have to anymore?
CHK did not follow through on their Agreement to Lease agreement with us but now we have received a permit contract from a company working for CHK for a 3D survey for our 120 acre parcel. How much per hole should we ask? Thanks
Exploration Services/Cajun Exploration on behalf of Chesapeake Louisiana offered me $25 per acre to conduct a 3D Seismic Survey.
