I'm not complaining... just curious. Help us understand why the price of natural gas is rising. Is it a trend or a short term spike?
thanks

i'm a little thrown by the persistent upward pressure we've been seeing too, despite sentiment getting ever more bearish the higher it goes
Natural gas was $3.61 Friday ...still climbing.
$5 by end of year? I still think so..or so close I wouldn't split hairs about it.
off topic but I wonder...San Saba offered $48,000 for mineral rights in Johnson country 3 months ago. Yesterday an offer of $108,000 came in mail. No mineral rights for sale..but I wonder..do these offers have anything to do with reality? As in whether there will be more drilling there or if indication that NG prices will rise?
And who is San Saba? The current leases are with Cheasapeak.
The price has risen 15% over past week. I predicted that natural gas price would reach $5 at end of year. Of course none of the experts agree with me.
But think it over...if it only rose by the same amount (42 cents) as it did the past week every 4 weeks it would reach $5 at end of year.
Why? Its well worth that price...
Below $3 it does not pay to produce the product. It is the same with any product. If nobody is buying a baker's bread he stops baking the bread.
Wanna be the next Energy Secretary? I think you are "a lot more smarter".
SHucks I don't want to be anybody's secretary. I wanna be the boss. I don't have any use for glass ceilings.
The price atop the opening page of GHS was $3.94 at 6.08 a.m. this Monday. I cannot find that price shown at any spot on the Internet.
cocodrie man---check Nymex prices-- the $3.94 is Dec 2012 future prices and the spot month Nov. 2012 $3.62 http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/energy/natural-gas/natural-gas.html
its all about the weather....check out the noaa 6-10 forecast and all see is dark blue (cold)
Price is up-----Election is near ---guess some people have short term memory & will be excited, LOL Winter is forthcoming, etc. Hate for people to suffer so guess I will not pray for a killer winter. Many things could improve for a while; thereafter, will they collapse??? We may have a little cheer, After all, election is near!!!!
The ones I wonder about is the North East Coast people. They have coal furnaces..Coal products a hot heat, warming their houses at much lower cost then other fuels. Even the huge steam producing machines that heat the high rises are many coal fueled.
If coal is really taken off market these people will never be as warm and face expensive refitting for a heat system.
Here we have fairly affordable natural gas and propane and electric heat and cooking systems. No matter how cold it gets here, we are looking at just a handful of freezing days compared to what they face.
Election is near is right.
11/19 price $3.62 up over $1 in last couple weeks...Just $1.38 to go by end of year to meet my projection/wish? of $5 by end of year.
I think the key to whether this going to happen is how the polls go on the last debate Monday. If it goes up and holds Monday morning...and there's good chance it will..then its on it way.
If govt invested just once the amount they put into Solyndra into development of natural gas auto we could be driving them off the production line by mid year.
Like my old dad used to tell me.."its all political" and "follow the money".
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
