Back in 2010 received an oil and gas lease for property in webster parish. They drilled a p and a d it. I didn't know I owned these mineral rights until then. There is a producing cv well on property with my greatgrandfathers last name.it has been producing since the 70`s. I dont receive any royalties from it. How do I go about researching this?

Originialy there was approx. 861 acres in this parcel.The lease in 2010 was for onky 40 acres. Any info would be appreciated, The lady at minden courthouse said we need to do a successation.

To have ownership you need a document granting ownership recorded in the courthouse. Succession proceedings would produce a Judgment Of Possession that would transfer ownership from your deceased grandfather into his heirs. Did your grandfather leave a will? What year did he die?
